Charity Car Boot Sale was a shining success
Bank Holiday Monday 27th May saw the return of the Radio Hillingdon Car Boot at Hillingdon Hospital after a break of 20 years.
After last years Summer Fete was a wash out due to the rain, the Committee decided to try holding a car boot sale on the hospital site in Royal Lane, Hillingdon instead. The Sun was shining and despite a low turn out of car boot sellers, fun was had by all and Radio Hillingdon's own stall was a success with the public. With a vast selection of books, bric-a-brac and a Winnie the Pooh Tombola game.
The day raised a total of £173.50 for the Hospital Radio station which is a registered charity serving the Patients of the Hillingdon Hospital. The station does not receive any funding from the NHS and rely's on the fund-raising efforts of it's volunteers to keep broadcasting. You can listen to the station in hospital FREE of charge on Hospedia Radio Channel 45 or at home on www.radiohillingdon.com and on your smart phone or tune in radio app.
Chairman Steve Hickman said, "I was a little disappointed on the day at the number of sellers. But I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of money we were able to raise for our service. We are currently trying to raise £15,000 to buy our 2 studios new mixing desks. So every penny helps us get closer to that target. Thank you to everyone who was involved in making the day a success".
